NAVAL SUPPORT FACILITY DEVESELU, Romania Typically, when one thinks of rapid deployments units in the U.S. Army they might think of Special Forces, Rangers or elements of the 18th Airborne Corps. With those rapid deployments comes the need for support elements and 2nd Platoon, B Company, 51st Expeditionary Signal Battalion, 35th Signal Brigade has answered the call supporting back-to-back rotations with less than a month in between arriving in Mihail Koglniceanu, Romania April 28.

Headline: Camp Zama prepares for Emergency Evacuation Program muster

Camp Zama will hold an Emergency Evacuation Program muster at the Camp Zama Community Club ballroom May 20 to 23. Participants should bring their EEP packets and go bags to the inspection, and since spouses and family members would evacuate during a disaster, organizers prefer that they attend instead of Soldiers.

Headline: 6-37 FAR Celebrates Children’s Day, Bonds with Local Children

CAMP CASEY, Republic of Korea – More than 130 Dongducheon City residents and Soldiers joined for an annual community event honoring Korean youth, May 4.

The 6th Battalion, 37th Field Artillery Regiment, 210th Field Artillery Brigade hosted a day of fun-filled activities in recognition of Children’s Day.

Not only did the Camp Zama Community Baby Shower include decorations, games, food and gifts, but a lot of information about community resources for parents. The shower took place at Army Community Service May 8, and organizers hope to hold similar events in the future.

Headline: Camp Zama teacher displays work in Japanese art form

Sandi Anderson-Watanabe, a Navy veteran about to complete her fourth year as a third-grade teacher at Camp Zama’s John O. Arnn Elementary School, is an accomplished kirie artist. Kirie is a Japanese art form which literally means “cut picture” and involves cutting a single piece of paper to create an image. A collection of her works are on display at the Camp Zama Library.

Headline: Marshall Center’s Faculty Roundtable Addresses Today’s Security Trends, Threats

GARMISCH-PARTENKIRCHEN, Germany — The Faculty Roundtable is one of the ways that the College of International and Security Studies at the George C. Marshall European Center here is able to address today’s security trends and threats facing our citizens and those of our allies. The most recent roundtable was held May 2. Dr. Graeme P. Herd, Marshall Center’s Research and Policy Analysis Department chair and professor of transnational security studies, presented on “Putin, Putinism and Operation Successor 2024.” During his presentation, he outlined different scenarios for power transfer in 2024, identifying their assumptions, what might be indicators and teasing out the implications.

Headline: Army introduces next-generation capability for radio interoperability with allies

The Army Futures Command demonstrated a new capability that will enable secure, real-time radio communication between the U.S. Army and its coalition partners on April 25 during DoD Lab Day at the Pentagon.

The Radio Interoperability Capability — Universal, or RIC-U, is a voice bridge for tactical radios that will allow U.S. forces to seamlessly talk with allies during multi-national operations, yet still protect access to the Army’s tactical network.
