Headline: Justice Department Files Complaint Challenging Milwaukee Mask Ban and Identification Requirements for Federal Officers

Today, the Department of Justice filed a lawsuit against the City of Milwaukee, Mayor Cavalier Johnson, City Attorney Evan Goyke, and Chief of Police Jeffrey Norman, challenging their unconstitutional attempt to regulate federal law enforcement officers by prohibiting federal officers from wearing masks and requiring they wear individual identifiers in Milwaukee, Wis., Code of Ordinances§ 105-140.

Headline: Tuba City Man Sentenced to Life in Prison for Murder, Aggravated Assault, and Robbery

PHOENIX, Ariz. – Last week, Derick Lee Myron, 46, of Tuba City, Arizona, was sentenced by United States District Judge Michael T. Liburdi to life in prison, plus 40 years. On April 29, 2024, Myron, an enrolled member of the Hopi Tribe, shot and killed an unarmed victim and shot and seriously injured two others on the Navajo Nation.

Headline: Fort Thompson Man Sentenced to 7 Years in Federal Prison for Firing a Gun at Other Persons

United States Attorney Ron Parsons announced today that U.S. District Judge Eric C. Schulte has sentenced a Fort Thompson man convicted of Using and Carrying a Firearm During and Relation to a Crime of Violence.  The sentencing took place on July 20, 2026.

Headline: Justice Department Announces $400 Million Settlement to Provide for Healthcare Costs of the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium

The Justice Department announced its authorization of the settlement of a lawsuit brought by the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium (ANTHC) for contract support costs owed under the Indian Self-Determination and Education Assistance Act (ISDEAA).  ANTHC was formed in the 1990s to provide health services throughout the state of Alaska.  Among other things, ANTHC operates the non-primary care functions of the Alaska Native Medical Center, which is one of the largest tribally run hospitals in our Nation.

Headline: Armed Methamphetamine Trafficker Sentenced to 35 Years in Prison in Homeland Security Task Force Investigation

MOBILE, AL – An Atlanta, Georgia man was sentenced to 420 months in prison for engaging in a yearslong methamphetamine-trafficking conspiracy, possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug-trafficking crime, and illegally possessing a firearm as a convicted felon.

Headline: Justice Department Finds University of California San Diego Medical School Discriminates Based on Race in Admissions

The Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division announced today a finding that the University of California San Diego School of Medicine (San Diego Med) used race in its admissions process in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, or national origin, and the U.S. Supreme Court’s 2023 decision in Students for Fair Admissions v. Harvard (SFFA), which banned race discrimination in higher education.

Headline: Albany Man Sentenced to Five Years for Arson

Marcasey Ventour, age 28, of Albany, New York, was sentenced July 17, 2026, to five years in prison for starting a fire at the Samuel S. Stratton Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Albany. First Assistant United States Attorney John A. Sarcone III and Special Agent in Charge Christopher Algieri of the Department of Veterans Affairs Office of Inspector General’s Northeast Field Office made the announcement.

Headline: Springfield Man Sentenced For Hatchet Attack in National Park

HARRISONBURG, Va. – A Springfield, Virginia man, convicted by a jury back in March of assaulting his then-girlfriend with a hatchet while camping in Shenandoah National Park, was sentenced today to 78 months in federal prison. Soufiane Bougria, 31, was convicted of two counts of felony assault in the territorial jurisdiction of the United States (Shenandoah National Park) following a jury trial in March.

Headline: Gloversville Drug Dealer Sentenced for Distribution of Methamphetamine and Crack Cocaine

Ernest McMikle, age 39 of Gloversville, New York, was sentenced on June 24, 2026, by United States District Judge Mae A. D’Agostino to 120 months in Federal Prison to be followed by a term of five years of supervised release. The announcement was made by First Assistant United States Attorney John A. Sarcone III, Special Agent in Charge Craig L. Tremaroli of the Federal Bureau of Investigation Albany, New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision Office of Special Investigations (OSI), Gloversville Police Department, and Johnstown Police Department.

Headline: Florida Laboratory Agrees to Pay $9.8M to Resolve False Claims Act Liability Relating to Self-Disclosure of Compensation Arrangements

NeoGenomics Laboratories Inc. (NeoGenomics), located in Florida, has agreed to pay $9,813,260 to resolve allegations that it violated the False Claims Act by providing below fair market value consulting services to certain health care providers that referred beneficiaries to NeoGenomics for laboratory testing services and by paying variable referral-based compensation to independent consultants to identify health care providers that could refer patients to NeoGenomics. In connection with the settlement, the United States acknowledged that NeoGenomics took significant steps entitling it to credit for cooperating with the government’s investigation.
